The Uppers-and-Downers SURVIVOR🥊

I was a nurse in a Cvicu. We had this pt come in as a stemi on cocaine, with his wife. He’s fed up on balloon pump, intubated, maxed on pressors and maxed on prop and fentanyl. With a balloon pump in, this man woke up, broke restraints, self extubated and ripped out the pump. 3 weeks later (after coding and all that) he walked out of the ICU and his wife turned to us and said… see cocaine saved his life……….

Late Night Karaoke 🎤

A lady was all gorked out on drugs and alcohol and was passed out on a gurney late one night in the ER. We had the lights dimmed and all was generally quiet. Every so often she would awaken and sing at the top of her lungs, "Doooon'ttt cryyyy foooor meeeee Argentiiiina!" That was 20+ years ago and it still cracks me up.

The Running Back 🏈

Had a patient who came in drunk. When no one was looking, he got out of bed and ran out of his room to the door of the next. He tried to pull it open (it was a push) and a nurse built like a linebacker sprinted down the hall and spear tackled him to the floor a few feet away. The nurse then dragged the patient back to his room by his foot with the doctor shouting at the patient all the way down the hall.
