Do Not Use Bleach Wipes as Birth Control 🤰
EMT/RN here, had a woman call 911 for “genital burning.” figured it was probably an STD or UTI. after questioning her and getting a history, it turns out she was using “anti-baby wipes” to prevent pregnancy after s*x with her boyfriend. these wipes in question were the purple top bleach wipes that had a picture of a baby on the side in the circle that was crossed out. she thought that meant the wipes prevent pregnancy, when in fact they shouldn’t be used on children because THEY’RE BLEACH. per the hospital, she had 2nd degree chemical burns in her labia…. and a positive pregnancy screening.

Do Not Treat Wounds with Cocaine 🤕
My patient had a leg wound that “has been there for a while” when asked how long the wound has been infected for. Then pt stated that he uses cocaine “from his dealer” to inject the wound as pain relief. He ended up getting his leg amputated :)

Man came into the ER for groin pain. It was discovered later he had the end of a toe nail clipper lodged in his urethra. The best part is, he didn’t tell us. The only reason we knew is because he had another ER visit 2 days prior. He signed out AMA from the previous ER after hearing he needed surgery to remove it because he had “things to do”. When we asked him how he got half a toenail clipper up his penis his answer was “well I thought I might have had a kidney stone and I was trying to dig it out, and I squeezed the toenail clippers and lost the one end” he did not have a kidney stone…
