Monkey Business 🐒
Pediatric ER, The CC was monkey bite. The ER tech poked his head out of triage to let the nurse know the monkey was with them. The monkey then proceeded to bite the mother. Security was called, policy was looked up, told parent that monkey could not stay. Mom opted to take pt and leave before being seen by a provider.

Lost in Translation 💩
My 5 year old patient in skeletal traction for a broken femur told me. “Necesito cagar “ I am not fluent in Spanish… so I had to check with my co workers on night shift to figure out what she was saying. It was the middle of the night and her parents went home. So I yelled to my friend across the hall. Hey… what does Cagar mean?? My friend cringed and said hey!! Don’t be yelling that across the hallway she just told you she needs to take a shit. My little 5 year old??? Needless to say I ran back to her and promptly assisted her with a bed pan.

Not a Piercing Pro 👂
Facial trauma call at Children’s, 17y girl had her earring ripped out and needed the lac closed. Mom had the earring with her and said “this was a really expensive and new piercing, can you put it back in?” Had to explain to the patients mother that even though I given injections, I am unable to perform a piercing and her daughter’s ear would not heal with a foreign body in place. The patient was watching all of this horrified with blood dripping from her ear.
